Anime to Live-action Photo Booth
A probe for my MFA thesis during its research and development period
Thesis: Research and Development, California College of the Arts, Grad Design
Role: Ideation | Research | UX/UI
Time frame: 2 weeks

In order to find out how Cosplayers react to a live-action version of the anime in a photo booth interior, which background is set up with familiar scripts from their characters and the real world scene referred by the anime.

I set up the play with
WHO: cosplayers
WHERE: real world location which the original fiction usually refers to, Google map provides photos of lots locations.
WHAT: the scripts in the original story.

I invited two groups of cosplayers to experience it.

The outcome is that we made some manga-layout-like pictures tells a small part of the original stories. My participants like it, they think it will be a popular product that sets in the convention, for cosplayers to act in their costumes, an adds-on fun thing to do in convention except just walking around, it also function as an ice-breaker for new friends, and creating shared memories of that particular day.
