In the nostalgic family holiday season, Christmas Tree Ornaments Book shares stories between an ornament and its owner and people around them. It is like a storyteller and recorder, family-tree book, and a time machine.
At the time when everything (including letters, photos and greeting cards) is being converted to a digital format, the Christmas tree and its ornaments remain the same each holiday season. Most ornaments in different families have their unique stories: where each was brought, who handmade it, etc. Ornaments have been passed on from generation to generation, each of them reminding us of a person. How can technology help keep these stories fresh? The Christmas Tree Ornaments Book is a folding interactive book. It can store information (audio, image and text) of an ornament, and synchronize with a chip stuck to the ornament. The audience can browse stories by pressing the folding paper tree in the book, or by touching the ornament. Information will be projected onto the wall. With this book, users are able to keep or add on new stories every year or to send greetings from a far distance with a tangible ornament. It can be a comfortable way for the elders to record their stories together with the young ones.
